Phil & Becky HeppnerPastor Phil and his wife Becky planted Calvary Chapel Fayetteville in 2006 with a hope to match their calling to serve the body of Christ with a Fayetteville-based church based on the Acts 2:42 model. Phil has served as the lead pastor and elder since that time, while Becky has lead women's bible studies, served in administration, and headed up Calvary Chapel Fayetteville's effort to become a participant/relay center for Samaritan's Purse's Operation Christmas Child.
They have four daughters (Allison, Anna, Reagan and Maggie). Allison married her husband Nick Kyrouac in 2014. Each of their daughters also serves in various ministry capacities. |
What We Believe |
The Bible is the only inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. There is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ; in His Virgin Birth; in His sinless life; in His miracles; in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood; in His bodily resurrection; in His ascension to the right hand of the Father; and in His personal return in power and glory. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful humanity, repentance from sin and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is the only way to come into a relationship with God.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. We further believe His power and gifts are available to believers today. There is a literal Heaven and a literal Hell and that all those who place their faith, hope and trust in Jesus Christ will spend eternity in Heaven with the Lord, while those who reject Jesus’ free gift of salvation will spend eternity separated from the Lord. It is important to uphold the scriptural practices of the early church. Therefore, we hold to the practice of water baptism and the regular taking of Communion. We do not believe that either of these practices is essential for salvation, but that they serve as a demonstration of our living faith in Christ. |
Our Approach To Worship |
We believe worship of God should be spiritual, inspirational, intelligent and fruitful. We remain flexible so the Holy Spirit may direct our worship. Music has a great place in our worship services, and we emphasize Bible teaching so God may instruct us. We look for His love in our lives as the greatest evidence that we are truly worshiping Him.

Knowing God |
Recognize your sin
“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) We were created for fellowship with God, but our sin separates us from Him. Sin simply means missing the mark. Recognize that Jesus died for you “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8). God loves you so much He gave His own Son to die in your place! “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23) Repent of your sin “Repent and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38). Repent means to turn and walk the other way—away from sin and into a new life in Christ Jesus. Confess Jesus as Lord of your life “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9) If you have placed your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, congratulations! Welcome to the family! We, as His children, will spend eternity with Him. |
Missions Philosophy |
At Calvary Chapel Fayetteville, we believe that all followers of Jesus are on mission in the world. Missions is part of the DNA of our church because we are convinced that The Great Commission is for all believers.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”–Matthew 28:19 We support the following worthy missions-oriented organizations/efforts:
